Recipezaar: Holiday/Event recipes Black Manhattan Toast your good health and a prosperous New Year with this wonderful cocktail. This is based on a drink served at a bar in San Francisco called the "Bourbon & Branch". The original recipe calls for bourbon, but I like the rye whiskey with the dashes of two different bitters. You make the choice!! Averna Amaro is a wonderful Italian liquor made with herbs, roots, and citrus rinds, and a caramel flavor added for sweetness...perfect on its own or just about any cocktail you can throw it in. -- posted by Alan in SW Florida Mint Oreo Ice Cream Cake Quick and Simple Mint Ice Cream Cake great for Special Occasions. will look like you spent hours in the kitchen

I am partial to a line of spices and seasonings from Penzeys Spices and swear by their Prime Rib Seasoning. -- posted by NiftyDeb Chocolate Heart (Adult Beverage) I adapted this from drinksmixer.com. Just in time for the New Year! :-) -- posted by senseicheryl Better Than Aunt Patti's Cornbread Dressing My Aunt Patti has been the designated cornbread dressing maker in my family for as long as I can remember. I was unable to attend Thanksgiving at her home this year so I set out on a mission to make my own dressing... it is my favorite dish at our holiday meals. The first attempt was darn good, but it needed more moisture and more sage. I thought the second attempt was just right and tasted like hers. But on the third attempt I micro'd the vegetables because all of my burners were in use. JACKPOT! It was an accidental discovery but the vegetables cook faster in the microwave plus the resulting flavorful broth sent the dish over the top. I'm very proud of this recipe. Aunt Patti would be heartbroken, however. So unfortunately, I'm gonna have to keep this a secret from my family. But I am thrilled to share this recipe with you. But please don't tell Aunt Patti. -- posted by Pot Scrubber Coconut Ambrosia Fruit Salad I get requests for this southern delicacy every holiday season. There's never anything left but a few crumbs on the plate. When I take the bread and dip to a party I always take printed copies of the recipe. The saltiness of the beef, the sweet bread and the creamy dip is a great combination.
I like to process the beef as it is easier to get on the bread.
I usually make a full recipe plus a half recipe of the dip as the mixture goes fast. -- posted by Hugs n'Quiches Chocolate Peppermint Thumbprints From the Dec 2008 / Jan 2009 Fine Cooking magazine.
