Great Pumpkin Meatloaf
Trick or Treat supper baked in a pumpkin. It is amazing how much less candy is gobbled up en route home on Halloween night if the kids start out with tummies happily full of nutritious food. To capture goblins attention before they go on their appointed rounds, serve Great Pumpkin Meatloaf. This fascinating jack-o'-lantern with a meatloaf inside will intrigue goblins, both young and old. Cut the jack-o'-lanterns in wedges and serve as a meat and vegetable in one. To accentuate the bland flavor of the pumpkin, the inside is spread with honey mustard before filling. The meatloaf mixture, enhanced with the zesty flavor of Worcestershire sauce is baked right inside the pumpkin. Complete this nourishing supper with oven roasted potatoes, celery sticks, cucumber slices, whole wheat dinner rolls and milk, plus a crispy apple for desert. This is not an "adult" dinner, but a pleasurable and fun meal for all that are young at heart. (WW 6 points) -- posted by Cucina Casalingo

Halloween Fun - Pumpkin Cake O' Lantern (Jack O'lantern)
Made from two bundt cakes, this cake makes an ideal Halloween cake & centrepiece. It is both delicious & beautuful (& fun to make). To make this recipe easier & quicker, you can substitute three boxes of spice-cake mix for the cake ingredients - just follow the box instructions! There are quite a few steps to make this cake but it is NOT difficult & is well worth the effort! -- posted by Um Safia

Hot Diggedy Dogs! Bonfire Bangers in Wraps (Hot Dogs/Sausages)
A deliciously different way of serving up Hot Dogs for Bonfire Night or Halloween! Choose your favourite bangers or dogs, mine are high meat content Lincolnshire sausages with herbs, then oven bake them for ease with sticky roasted mustard coated onions - all in one pan! Serve with lashings of tomato relish or tomato ketchup for a great comfort dish on the run! The great thing about this recipe is that it can also be kept warm in the oven, whilst the spooky activities are in action, or dad is still trying to light the DAMP fireworks in the garden!! If you are serving this to little ones who may not like the mustard, just leave it out and add a little tomato puree instead for a tomatoey onion taste. Twit Twooo, Hooting Halloween Owls - Halloween Cupcakes/Muffins
These are GREAT fun! Bake some chocolate fairy cakes, muffins or cupcakes, decorate them and then turn them into Hooting Halloween Owls! I made these last year for a children's Halloween party, and they all loved them. The recipe is based on our British fairy cake or angel cake recipe, where the top of the baked cake or muffin is cut off to create the "wings". I have stated some sweets (candy) that are British - please use your own local sweets to decorate the owls. This is a wonderful recipe idea that I have changed and adapted from Tana Ramsay, the wife of the famous Gordon Ramsay.....she has some great family recipes, of which this is one. (Preparation time includes the time to decorate and ice them after they have been baked.) My Recipe #328085 would also be great Halloween companions for these hooting owls! -- posted by French Tart

Gruesome Green Goblin Punch - Fun for Halloween!
This is a great recipe for Halloween or a kids party. It is really simple to put together & looks fab. Time to make doesn't include time to set. -- posted by Um Safia

Halloween Fun - Witch's Broom Favors
These favors are so cute! You can use them as table decorations, give to trick or treaters, give to your guests as favours. It is a nice idea to make little tags with your guests names on & hang over the top of each broom stick for fun place settings. My orange & black truffles would look really good in these, as would any other halloween candy mixes. -- posted by Um Safia

Freaky Mummies in a Flash - Halloween Treats!
I usually cook everything from scratch, but sometimes you're in a rush & don't have the time. These cupcakes are perfect for times like that. If you're not so pushed for time, use either a 22.5 ounce box of brownie mix - or make 36 of your own mini cupcakes - if you do have the time  -- posted by Um Safia

Spooky Spider Cupcakes/Muffins for a Howling Halloween!
I JUST love these little spider cakes, when I make them, their faces make me laugh - well, I am easily pleased! Furthermore, they are VERY tasty - they have a much better flavour than NORMAL spiders I find, their legs are a little too chewy! The cake mixture is a double chocolate cake mixture - with cocoa and chocolate pieces, topped off with a chocolate butter cream. The decorations are made using Liquorice Allsorts and liquorice strings/laces or Catherine wheels as we call them in Great Britain. They are easy to make and can be frozen before you decorate them. I made these for TOTM Cooking School September 2008 - I hope you find the step-by-step photos handy when you come to bake and decorate them. An idea we had for an adult Halloween party - turn the spiders upside down so they have their legs in the air, and scatter wine corks amongst them on a plate........only joking! :-) If you fancy some wise companions for these spooky spiders, try these: Recipe #326716. -- posted by French Tart

Pumpkin Sloppy Joes (Low Fat)
What a great fall harvest meal! Recipe from Taste of Home, so you know its good. States that this is a low fat meal for two and they recommend topping them off with pickles and eating with a side of carrot sticks and celery sticks to stay with the low fat theme. At our house, we usually serve sloppy joes open faced on just one piece of bread to decrease the carb content. . .just an idea :) -- posted by JanuaryBride

Oatmeal Pumpkin Cookies
This makes a lot of cookies. I got this recipe online and adjusted it for taste. There are many pumpkin cookie recipes here, but I think this one is different. It is all stuff you usually have in your pantry. This is great with chocolate chips and nuts in place of the raisins too. At the listed baking time you end up with a texture like a muffin top, but you can add time for a chewier cookie. -- posted by Jess4Freedom

This is my sister's recipe and her pics as well, but these are so cute I had to share. No cooking/baking required! I was made to put in package sizes, but it is a package of cookies, large package of licorice, large package of skittles and a tub of icing. So simple! -- posted by Dannygirl

Spooky Sloppy Joes
These sloppy joes can be decorated on the bun with olives and cheese to make a monster face, or with olives and bell pepper strips to look like spiders, or (what I do) cheese slices cut to look like a Jack 'O Lantern face. This one is ALL about your imagination when it comes to decorating them. One friend "drew" a ghostly hand with colored ketchup on the top of her and another cut ghosts out of mozzerella cheese. Let your imagination run wild. -- posted by **Kelly**

Tartiflette - Alpine Melted Cheese, Bacon and Potato Gratin
Fast becoming a classic, Tartiflette is the perfect palliative supper dish for chilly autumn and winter evenings. This delicious, rich and hearty dish hails from the Alpine Haute Savoie region of France. For authenticity's sake, try to get hold of a whole Reblochon cheese. Reminiscent of Camembert or Brie in flavour, texture and shape, Reblochon has the perfect melting quality for Tartiflette. In addition, as this dish can be prepared a day or so ahead, it could make the ultimate Bonfire Night or Halloween centrepiece! This is a truly indulgent dish, which is best appreciated after a strenuous morning on the ski-slopes — or at least a brisk winter’s morning walk. It is important to use a ripe Reblochon, preferably bought a few days in advance and left to reach maturity out of the fridge. For this to happen, it should be uncategorised. Of course, if you have a good cheese monger you will be able to buy one ripe and ready to eat. Serve the Tartiflette hot and straight from the gratin dish with fresh salad, crusty bread and assorted pickles. -- posted by French Tart

Harvest Festival - English Baked Stuffed Autumn Marrow/Zucchini
Harvest Home! A heart warming and traditional English recipe, which is a wonderful way to deal with those large marrows (zucchini) from the autumn garden! The marrow is stuffed with a savoury beef and onion mixture and is then baked in foil. This is an old family recipe, which always pleases and is regularly requested when these giant marrows are in season – it is hearty and full of flavour and is wonderful when served with a hot tomato sauce, steamed fresh seasonal vegetables and piles of fluffy mashed potatoes. The preparation is a little time-consuming, but the stuffed marrow is then baked slowly in the oven, leaving you free to follow other pursuits. I have posted a full set of step-by-step photos with this recipe, it shows how easy it is to prepare and cook, as well as showing how delicious it looks when served piping hot at your dinner table! The title of this recipe was taken from memories of all the Harvest Festivals we had every year, that were held at school or the local parish church - marrows (LARGE zucchini) were always a BIG feature of the harvest display! -- posted by French Tart

Tarantula Tostadas (Or Tacos)
I have to admit, every once in a while I've just gotta play with my food. Being an adult is hard work, so sometimes you just have to say NO. This cute idea is from Betty Crocker, but they used the Old El Paso Stand 'n Stuff shells with the flat bottoms. Since I couldn't find them, I used tostada bowls. More room for more spiders! You can add whatever else you like - I added some refried beans as the first layer and also some guacamole. -- posted by Sandi (From CA)

Pumpkin Tarts
you can use canned pumpkin if you like the traditional thick texture and sweetness of store-bought pumpkin pie. I like using fresh cooked pumpkin as it's not overly sweet and much lighter and fluffier that way, almost like a mousse. you can freeze cooked pumpkin for many months so you can still make this outside of autumn, just be sure to drain it well when you thaw it. can also be made into a single-crust pie, just increase the cooking time to about an hour -- posted by spiritussancto

Yorkshire Parkin - Sticky Oatmeal Gingerbread for Bonfire Night
A wonderful tradition from Northern England, in particular from the county of Yorkshire; this wonderful gingerbread is traditionally eaten on the 5th November which is Bonfire Night, also called Guy Fawkes night or Fireworks Night. There are many ways to make ginger parkin; this is my recipe for this deliciously, sticky and dark gingerbread with oats. This recipe is an egg free parkin, and I was always told that Parkin should NEVER contain eggs in it, whether that is true or not, I'm not sure! Try to plan ahead when you make this recipe, it is MUCH better when kept for 2 to 3 days before eating, as it become stickier and more intense in flavour. This keeps for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container and freezes well, if there is any left! I use jumbo porridge oats in my parkin, for a nice chewy texture - but any porridge oats or oatmeal will be suitable. Please note, if you make this with the suggested alternatives of corn syrup and molasses, it will not be quite the same flavour, but it should still be sticky! -- posted by French Tart

Blood and Mud Pud
A twist on the classic fondue for Halloween. This version is for kids but it also works well for more sophisticated tastes with the addition of vodka or kirsch to the raspberry sauce and brandy or rum to the chocolate sauce. The real beauty of this recipe is that it doesn't take a lot of cooking and because you can vary the dipping ingredients you can be sure to cater for most tastes! for example you can use grapes, walnuts, pecans, marshmallows, mango chunks, pineapple chunks etc. etc. Oh! The Perfect Low-Sugar Kool-Aid Salt Water Taffy
I've worked at it and worked at it and 5 batches later, I think I've got it. It's the perfect salt water taffy flavored with kool-aid. It takes alot of work to get it to the right consistency so don't give up! And if it seems to hard when it cools down, as long as it's still pliable, it will work. If it cracks into pieces, you cooked it too long. Even 5 degrees can ruin the batch so keep an eye on it. Try again, or tell people you were going for painted glass candy all along. Also, most taffy recipes will tell you that you don't need to keep stirring after the mixture starts boiling. I ruined 3 batches before I found out it's safer just to keep stirring. Even a little bit of burnt taffy in the mix ruins the batch, and if you don't stir, it will burn to the bottom of the pan. **SIDE NOTE** I sited strawberry kool-aid in my recipe, but you can use any kind as long as it's unsweetened. -- posted by InBlackAndLace

Pumpkin Walnut Cookies With Caramel Cream Cheese Frosting
I picked up the latest issue of Taste of Home, Best-Loved Cookies and Bars. Because of the season, I wanted to make pumpkin cookies. When I couldn't decide between 2 recipes, I smooshed them together and made it my own, especially the frosting. A touch of maple syrup adds a hint of the holidays and the cream cheese adds a rich, creamy texture to the frosting and keeps it not too sweet. These are easy to make and sooo delicious. Don't be afraid of the thick mixture, especially after adding the walnuts. This produces a soft, moist, chewy, cake-like cookie. If you're not a stickler for smooth edges or are in a rush, refrigeration isn't necessary. It just stays more formed and doesn't create little points after being scooped (especially from a cookie scooper). These cookies don't spread out much, so you can place them closer together on the cookie sheet to bake more at a time. Cooking time is bake time + making the frosting. -- posted by caffeine junkie
